Because of those reasons, the outsiders more than ten million a year never stop visiting Daecheon beach, and it also occupies a position as the international tourism attraction as well as the best resting place in west coast.

First of all, the white sand is 3.5 km long and 100m wide as the big beach. The fantastic rocks and stones are well developed in the south of the white sands, and you can enjoy the congenial sea bathing because the water tem perature is also appropriate. The sands in Daecheon beach is made of shell powder that is unique in the East as the shell had been broken to pieces for long years and transformed into the sands.

Compared to the white sands of silica that sticks to the body, the shell powder is smooth and washable. How about the slope that cannot be dismissed as one of the conditions for the beach? There is a saying that you need to cross the sea in front of Daecheon after checking like the saying "look before you leap".

Like this, Daecheon beach is fluent and the bottom of the sea is regular, and the white sands boast the clarity that does not have foreign substances.

Daecheon beach is obviously the place to have the heaven's blessing for the sea bathing with family from a child to elder people because the wave is not so rough with the shallow depth of water.

Sanghwawon is a traditional Korean garden preserving the natural beauty of Jukdo Island.

Sanghwawon features a Hanok Village with restored traditional Korean houses, a villa complex surrounded by bamboo groves, and black pine trees with water, trees, and wind mingling harmoniously. Experience the corridors along the island and Seokyang Garden, exuding a Korean beauty.

In 1997, Chungcheongnam-do (Province) introduced 31 superb national landscapes with clean water including valleys, waterfalls, and streams from each city and county. Following this, Professor Yu Byeong-ro of Hanbat National University and his team investigated these sites, and announced the final 11 landscapes on April 25, 1999. Among them, Hwajanggol Valley was selected one of the 11 cleanest water places in Chungcheongnam-do. This proves that it is a clean area with a well-preserved natural environment. With paved roads and recreational facilities, Seongjusan Mountain Recreational Forest has been developed as a tourism attraction. Gugok Valley also has a dense forest with clean water, and shows the mystery of Mother Nature in the fall season with its beautiful autumn colors.

The sea is divided and shows the bottom of the sea 1.5 km from the seashore to Sukdaedo four or five times before and after the middle of the month and the end of the month as every lunar month. It is very interesting to catch small octopus, sea cucumber, shell, etc. along the divided sea route. Muchangpo beach where the natural scenery of excellent pine tree along the sea enhances the artistic mood make the visitors from all over the country hurry up with the sea fishing around the beach and affluent underground water.

Moses' miracle phenomenon in Muchangpo is that the sea water is divided in the low tide so that the bottom of the sea is exposed. Because of this phenomenon, the sea route is shown from the front of Muchangpo beach to Sukdaedo, unmanned island in front of the beach as shown in the table to show the opening of the sea.

You can catch sea cucumber, shell, small octopus, etc. along the sea route 1.5 km long between Muchangpo beach and Sukdaedo that occurs because the sea is divided so that a lot of visitors come to this place.

This island is the farthest from Boryeong City among 70 islands or so. People have named it Oeyeonyeoldo, as if the island leads the rest of islands.

Ten odd years ago, the fisheries were very developed and it was easy to see the seasonal fish markets in this island. At present, there are 140 households around the estuary. It has been said that Jeonhwoing General settled down here with his followers at BC 202, when Je Kingdom perished and Han Kingdom was established.

That's why people in the island hold a ceremony to Je General every year and pray for a good haul. They believe that the woman and the baby would be safe when the woman delivery the baby if the spirit of Je General is a help to them.

The origin of Pungeodangnoli in Oeyeondo

There has been an ancestral shrine of Jeonhwoing General in the Dangsan Camellia Forest (Natural Monument No. 136) beyond the village since the middle age of Choseon Dynasty (approximately 300 years ago). People in the island have prayed for peace and a good haul. This ceremony is to assure the harmony of people in the island with Yonghwang Je.

Jeonwhoing General was a younger brother of Je Kingdom emperor and he was swept by the ship and settled down on Oeyeondo with his 500 followers when Je Kingdom perished and Han Kingdom was established. The first king of Han Kingdom wanted him to be a subject, however he rejected this proposal and died himself. His 500 followers also died themselves. This impressed people in the island and they built up an ancestral shrine for him and his followers and held a ceremony for them.

It was built by Lee Jang-saeng, the Naval Commander-in-chief, during the 4th year of King Jungjong of the Joseon Dynasty (1509) reign. The fortress, a wall of stacked stones extending for 1,650 meters on the perimeter of Chungcheong Naval Base, was a strategically important point for coastal defense. An observatory was built on a high land shaped like a soft-shelled turtle to watch over the seas and islands.

There were four fortress gates on all sides, a small western gate, and government offices, such as Yeongbojeong, Gwandeokjeong, Daeseopru, Neungheogak, and Gosodae, all of which were destroyed. Manghwamun (western gate) and Jinhyulcheong, Janggyocheong, and Gonghaegwan (buildings) have been preserved.

Manghwamun Gate is shaped like an arch built with cleaning granites. Ocheonhang Port was called Hoeipo, where trade was carried out with China since the Baekje Dynasty, and it hosted military vessels to repel Japanese pirates during the Goryeo Dynasty. In the 12th year of King Sejo's reign (1466), the naval base was constructed as the headquarters of the Chungcheong Provincial Navy to defend the western coast.

Along the Dam, there is beautiful driving road. Its beauty can compare with the one in Choong joo Dam. Neatly paved twin road gives the best look bellow the cobalt blue lake.

Near the dam, many mineral springs attract traveler with its fresh-taste. At the feet of the Younsoori Mountain, you can find cultural assets of Choong Chung Nam Do. Those are Yongam youngdang, tradition house for shaman in the past, and Soohyun temple. Especially, there is an old ginkgo nut tree with 5m diameters in the yard in Youngam House built about 250 years ago.

It is a mountain that forms the boundaries of Boryeong-si, Hongseong-gun, and Cheongyang-gun, and embraces the natural beauty of thick forests and deep and clean water.

Seen from the top, one can watch waves of silver grass like a watercolor, the horizon of the West Sea, and the setting sun. With Seongjusan Mountain to the south, Gayasan Mountain to the north, Chilgapsan Mountain, and Gyeryongsan Mountain to the east, it is a mountain that allows visitors to see panoramic landscapes of the sea, sky, and land.

Oseosan is a mountain with many crows and magpies, and many places in Boryeong were named for the same reason.

Moreover, the mountain has rocks of fantastic shapes, twisted ridges, and a relatively flat top, making it popular among hiking enthusiasts and the general public.

In particular, it is called the lighthouse of the West Sea, as the guide to the western sea route. (By one account, it is called Oseosan because it looks dark. seen from Oeyeondo) It is famous for its ridges covered with silver grass in the autumn.
